U.S. allegations that an Indian authorities official directed an unsuccessful plot to assassinate a Khalistani terrorist on U.S. soil underscores the necessity for India to take comparable allegations by Canada critically, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated on Wednesday.
The U.S. Justice Division stated earlier on Wednesday {that a} 52-year-old man labored with an Indian authorities worker, whose duties included safety and intelligence, on the plot to assassinate a New York Metropolis resident who advocated for a Sikh sovereign state in northern India.
“The information popping out of the USA additional underscores what we have been speaking about from the very starting, which is that India must take this critically,” Trudeau instructed reporters in Ottawa.
The U.S. fees come about two months after Canada stated there have been “credible” allegations linking Indian brokers to the homicide of a Khalistani terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in a Vancouver suburb, in June. India has rejected that allegation.
