Are Biden’s warnings to Israel sparked by fears of 2024 election? | Israel-Palestine battle

Political scientist Shibley Telhami says Biden is permitting his ‘private desire’ to drive US coverage on Israel.

College of Maryland professor Shibley Telhami says US President Joe Biden is making his choices on Palestine and Israel “primarily based on private beliefs, private preferences, private feelings,” and “not essentially pushed by a thought of evaluation of American pursuits at stake”.

Telhami tells host Steve Clemons that Biden’s “incapacity to point out empathy” for the Palestinians is surprising, and that the president’s latest warnings to Israel had been pushed partly by his calculations for subsequent yr’s election.

All of the discuss plans for “the day after” the warfare are distractions from the real-time dying and destruction in Gaza, Telhami says.
