Ex Congress MLA Shot Dead Near Myanmar Border In Arunachal Pradesh

A former Congress MLA was killed whereas attending a social occasion in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district. Yumsen Matey, a distinguished native chief, was visiting the Raho village close to the Myanmar Border when he was shot useless, police mentioned.

The previous legislator, alongside along with his three associates, was within the village when somebody approached them and took them to a close-by forest, senior Tirap police officer Rahul Gupta mentioned. Within the forest, somebody shot Matey, killing him on the spot, he added. The attacker then escaped in the direction of Myanmar.

Whereas police refused to establish the attackers it’s suspected that they could be linked to the terrorist group NSCN-KYA. The police have launched a seek for the attacker.

In 2009, Matey was elected as a Congress MLA from the 56th Khonsa West Meeting Constituency. Throughout his tenure, he held the place of Parliamentary Secretary, overseeing the Departments of Ladies and Social Welfare, Social Justice and Tribal Affairs.

He joined the BJP in 2015 and, earlier this 12 months, declared his willingness to contest the meeting polls in 2024.
